This is glorious and even thought it doesn’t fit in the range of all the paranormal, I MUST share

It works like this: You tell Kitestring that you’re in a dangerous place or situation, and give it a time frame of when to check in on you. If you don’t reply back when it checks your status, it’ll alert your emergency contacts with a custom message you set up.

It doesn’t require you to touch anything (like bSafe) or shake your phone (like Nirbhaya) to send the distress signal. Kitestring is smarter, because it doesn’t need an action to alert people, it needs inaction.

Washboard — Tumblr Savior for mobile devices

Hello, Tumblr! Over the last few months I’ve been working on a project that brings keyword blacklisting to mobile devices, and it’s finally ready for the public. If you’re not familiar, Tumblr Savior is a browser extension that allows users to hide posts containing certain keywords or tags. It works great for desktops, but it can’t be used on phones or tablets, and the official Tumblr apps don’t offer any alternatives.

That’s where Washboard steps in: just sign in with Tumblr, import your blacklist from Tumblr Savior, and start browsing! Washboard also features infinite scrolling, a “Safe Mode" toggle that hides images, and a few other features that make mobile browsing as painless as possible.

Any questions or suggestions? Send me an ask or tag a post #washboard.ws and I’ll look at it as soon as possible!

I just learned that some websites use cookies to adjust prices. That is, if you visit a certain website a lot the price will increase.

You can tell if that’s the case by checking the same web page on a different browser if you have a different number of stored cookies for that site. I checked something on Chegg and it was $14.95 on Chrome, $19.95 on Firefox, and $16.95 on Safari.

The fix? Clear your cookies for that website.

Reblog, save a wallet.

Plane tickets almost always do this!

PLANE TICKETS DO THIS ALL THE DAMN TIME

When you’re looking for plane tickets and waiting for prices to drop, ALWAYS clear your cookies beforehand and switch between browsers. A friend of mine was looking for a flight and getting prices that were the CHEAPEST at $800-1000, I sent her a link for a round trip that was like $495, and it read as $900 on her computer because she had been hounding the airline site.

alternatively: avoid all this headache by using incognito when shopping for plane tickets, text
books, etc

Hotel rooms are notorious for this, as well. Just like, go on incognito mode to look at these sites, saves u a lot of time & hassle.

Bruh I ain’t never know dis thank you man

fun fact, the IRS will never ever ever call you. not even once.

if you get a call from someone claiming they’re with the IRS – even if they leave you a voicemail, or multiple voicemails – even if those voicemails say things like, Extremely Urgent, and, Please Respond Immediately – it’s not the IRS.

if you do call them back, bc you didn’t know that the IRS never ever ever calls people, and the guys on the other end tell you that there’s an arrest warrant out for you, bc you have discrepancies on your taxes and you owe $4900 which you must pay immediately, and if they tell you that this call is being recorded; that if you hang up the phone that will be considered an act of refusal and the police will show up at your door; that you can try to take this case to court, but the courthouse is in Washington, D.C., and if you’re found guilty, you’ll owe an additional $75,000; and if you try to call your mother via skype as you cry over the phone and they hear you talking to someone else and order you to stop, bc this is an official call, it’s being recorded, and you’re not allowed to consult with anyone else –

if someone calls claiming they’re with the IRS, you have my permission to shout at them to fuck off, and then you can contact the real IRS about this awful fucking scam.

im sorry that happened to you! pip got targeted by similar scammers last year, i think. reblogging ‘cause the faster this kind of scam becomes common knowledge, the faster it won’t work anymore.

Skin tone swatches, for use as a resource.

Spudfuzz on Deviantart made the original resource, which I modified to be a bit more realistic. She gave me permission to post this.

These swatches, like all art resources, should be used as a “jumping off point!” All colours are relative, and change with lighting conditions. As they are now, these swatches work best for adoptables, character lineups, and other art where local colour is important.

one example of healthy polyamory: person a, person b, and person c are dating. every one is fully consenting to be in the relationship.

another example of healthy polyamory: person a and person b are dating. person a is also dating person c, but person b and c would like to remain just friends. every one is fully consenting to be in the relationship.

another example of healthy polyamory: person a and person b are dating, but they both feel it is okay to kiss/hold hands/have sex with other people that they are not dating. this is called an open relationship, and is often considered a form of polyamory. both partners are fully consenting to be in the relationship, and those who are not in the relationship understand and are fully consenting to the romantic acts. boundaries are established and agreed upon by all parties.

there are a lot of different types of poly relationships and poly relationship dynamics, it is not a one-size-fits-all thing. stop telling polyamorous people that their relationships are invalid because you dont like it

PETA: They’d rather spend their money on publicity campaigns than on the animals in their care. PETA killed 73.8% of the animals in their care in 2015 (x)

FCKH8: Is a for-profit company that exploits oppressed groups for money. They’re also wildly uninformed, and spread misogyny, cissexism and bi/panphobia, as well as stealing their posts/designs (x)

Autism Speaks: They spend most of their money on researching a way to eliminate autism, heighten the stigma against autism and don’t have a single autistic person on their board (x)

Please support other, better charities, and feel free to add any others you can think of to this.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure: CEO makes insane amounts of money, they deny a lot of requests for wigs/help with treatment/etc., and have attempted to sue other charities that use the color pink as part of their anti-breast cancer campaign. ( x x x )

The Salvation Army: They promote the hatred of LGBT+ people, work with fundamentalist Christian groups to support conservative politics and rip off and exploit workers. ( x x x )

Wounded Warrior: They take money that should be spent on veterans and blow it on huge opulent parties for the company bigwigs. 26 million in 2014 alone wasted! ( x x x )

^ Important reminder to NOT waste any money donating to these groups

Reblogging because of the added info about Wounded Warrior.
