There has been only one exception: after his fight with Usopp in Water 7, Luffy did not smile for a long time; in the storyline, he did not smile for a whole day, but in terms of chapters, he did not smile for fifteen chapters.”

The Omen of the Emperor. A tribute to the part of
Luffy’s destiny that was fulfilled in Chapter 903 only a few days ago.

We know Luffy as the lovable protagonist of One Piece, but Oda’s made a
point to remind us that he is still a pirate, and that he himself
doesn’t want to be a hero.

Likewise, there is a duality in the depiction of ravens in the cultures
of the world – they are omens of bad luck in some and great fortune in
others, and are associated with both warfare and safe passage alike.
It’s a dichotomy that I find fascinating, and since Luffy, as the Will
of D.’s prophesized bringer of great change, has a destiny that is
directly intertwined with the fate of the One Piece world I drew him
together with one. Happy Luffy Day 2018!!

This one was a little bit more challenging to do than I thought it would be – and that was mostly in all the detail (RIP) ,as well as figuring out ways to adapt a Klimt-esque look to Howl. It was really tempting to put him in his pink jacket since it lends itself to rectangular form so well. However I just had to go and make things difficult for myself… because I love his transformed version!
